Following last week's announcement that our current Chief Executive, Andy Thornton, is moving on, we are looking for an inspirational CEO who can build on our strong foundations and lead the organisation through the next stage in our evolution.
We are an independent education and social action charity, helping young people build a better future by inspiring them to take part in society as active and equal members.
We help them understand the law, politics and democratic life. We help teachers deliver engaging citizenship education and we help professionals partner with schools and young people to equip them with the knowledge and skills to participate in their local communities and beyond.
We want society to be fairer, more inclusive and more cohesive and we want a thriving democracy in which everyone has the knowledge, ability and confidence to take part as effective citizens.
We've been going since 1989 and our work is as relevant and important today as it was 27 years ago. We believe young people should be informed and empowered citizens who can operate within a rapidly changing world.
Our ambition is to grow and strengthen our output across what we see as the four pillars of citizenship - the Law, Democratic Politics, the Economy and Social Action - seeking new and innovative ways to promote the impact and reach of our offers.
We need someone who can lead a national organisation operating in an increasingly important field; someone with the gravitas to engage credibly with a wide range of stakeholders from government and school leaders to senior figures across all areas of democratic life.
