New teaching resource on migration and identity

A new citizenship resource for key stages 3 and 4 encourages school students to explore issues of identity.

Moving People, Changing Places links specifically to key concept 1.3: 'Identities and diversity: living together in the UK', and further curriculum links are identified in the individual lesson plans.

The resource uses real-life examples to help students consider a range of issues relating to migration and identity. The lesson plans can be used individually or as a scheme of work, and cover five topics:

  •     Family Identities;
  •     Expressing Identity;
  •     Moving People;
  •     Our Changing Places;
  •     Living Together.

Moving People, Changing Places can be also be used to support a range of other subjects, including history, geography, RE and PSHE.

The resource is a result of research by the University of Leeds. The Citizenship Foundation was involved in its development.
