Citizenship briefing for business and the media - September 2002

Next month Citizenship will become the first new subject on the National Curriculum since its launch in 1990.

The Citizenship curriculum will guarantee young people the opportunity to understand the institutions and processes that shape their lives, and help them play an active role in society. As such, it will have a signigicant impact on the way in which schools interact with their wider community, from local councils to global business. But what exactly is the Citizenship curriculum? How will it work? What are the opportunities for companies, media organisations and others to get involved? To help you understand more about this new subject, the Citizenship Foundation is hosting a special briefing for media and business. The event is part of our regular series of First Friday seminars.
