Free European event in Edinburgh
The Foreign Policy Centre and the European Commission Representation in the UK are holding an event called 'Reconnecting the European Parliament and its People' in Edinburgh on 29 January. The event, part of a series of four seminars being held across the UK, will examine public awareness and attitudes towards the European Parliament, assess the problems that it faces and explore some possible solutions.
The event, which starts at 6pm, is free and open to all, and the organisers are very keen for young people, students and citizenship teachers to take part. The panel, chaired by George Foulkes MSP, includes Catherine Stihler MEP (Labour), Struan Stevenson MEP (Conservative), Elspeth Attwooll, (former Liberal Democrat MEP), Professor Jo Shaw; Salvesen Chair of European Institutions at the University of Edinburgh, with Fiona Hyslop MSP, Minister for Culture and External Affairs (tbc).
