New arrangements for DCSF Certification in Citizenship Education

This year the DCSF is re-organising the delivery of its national CPD programme. The scheme will be administered nationally by the University of Plymouth which, in co-operation with the Association for Citizenship Teaching, is developing new ways of making this training more accessible.

With a range of national partners, including the Citizenship Foundation and ACT, more face-to-face courses will be made available in each region, via locally based training providers supported by a national online set of modules.

In addition to the face-to-face groups, there will be a distance learning option for teachers who cannot get to local meetings or prefer to work independently.

Details are still being confirmed but courses for the new year are likely to begin after January 2010. Details will be provided in this bulletin as soon as possible and on the website of Association for Citizenship Teaching.

Alternatively, contact Don Rowe at don.rowe@citizenshipfoundation.org.uk to go on a dedicated mailing list for this project.
