Magistrates Court Mock Trial Competition Development Project Pilot Heat

On Saturday 17th January, the pilot heat of the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Competition took place at Feltham Magistrates’ Court. The development project works with schools and teachers who are new to the competition, offering teacher training, school visits and the opportunity to take part in a pilot heat so they can ‘have a go’ at the competition before doing the real thing.

The schools in this year's pilot were:
• Quintin Kynaston, Westminster
• Kidbrooke School, Greenwich
• Kingsmead School, Enfield
• Robert Clack School, Barking & Dagenham

After two closely fought rounds, Kingsmead School was declared the winner. All of the participants will go on to take part in the local heats in March. Of the competition, one teacher who participated said that it was ‘extremely valuable for pupils to develop confidence and knowledge'.
