Awards ceremony to celebrate outstanding social enterprise achievements of UK school students
On 15 October the 2008 Giving Nation Awards will celebrate the outstanding fundraising, campaigning, volunteering and social enterprise achievements of 50 young people from schools across the UK.
The awards will be presented by the new Minister for the Third Sector Kevin Brennan MP in front of an audience of MPs, representatives from the DCSF, Office of the Third Sector, major charities and partners of the Citizenship Foundation.
Regional awards of £1,000 will be given to eight UK schools that have excelled in charitable and community activities during the past 12 months.
The Rainforest Foundation, Giving Nation’s charity partner for 2008 will present this year’s national award to a charity team from the overall winning school; a week directly experiencing the charity’s work in the Cameroon rainforest.
Giving Nation is a Citizenship Foundation project which promotes and supports young people’s learning and engagement in charity and community volunteering, fundraising, social enterprise and campaigning. The project receives funding from the Office of the Third Sector and the DCSF as well as continued support from HM Treasury who will once again be hosting the ceremony.
