Linklaters Support Youth Act Campaigners

Over the past 12 months, Youth Act groups in London have received valuable support to further their campaigning efforts from Linklaters. Read about how their ‘Community Investment Programme’ is supporting groups to make a change.

Linklaters is a global law firm. Through their ‘Community Investment Programme’ the firm aims to work closely with and support community partners in London working with disadvantaged communities.

In 2007, Linklaters provided Youth Act with £10,000in funding for school-based projects in East London. Linklaters support community partners whose work places an emphasis on three key areas:

Achievement – empowering emerging talent to achieve its full potential

Enterprise – encouraging enterprising and entrepreneurial people

Access to Justice – asserting legal rights and responsibilities

The George Mitchell School – Movement

With funding from Linklaters , young people at George Mitchell School plan to run workshops in the community – targeting young people to educate them about the dangers of knife crime. With the support, the group will also be able to develop their community partnership to provide employment opportunities for young people.

The Willowfield School – Changes

The funding will enable Willowfield School to roll out their photo campaign to shop-keepers and local businesses. The group will also be able to deliver their workshops to local primary schools (e.g. transport etc)

Warwick School – Understood

The funding will help to pay for a permanent sculpture in Waltham Forest to celebrate all the different faiths and cultures

The group aims to set up a school-wide group to bring more understanding between faiths and cultures in their local community.

Skinners School – I Love Hackney!

The funding from Linklaters will enable young people to hold an ‘It’s a Hackney Thing’ event in autumn with acts, music and food to celebrate opportunities for young people throughout the borough.Funding will also enable the group to further develop their business plan for the youth club.

We are also grateful to Linklaters for their continued support of the Citizenship Foundation's twinning scheme.
