First Fridays Fifth Birthday Event
On Friday 07 July, the Citizenship Foundation invites you to attend a special First Friday to celebrate five years of the popular series of monthly seminars exploring issues relating to citizenship education.The seminar, which will be held at the British Library from 10am-4pm will look at the popular topic of managing citizenship in the curriculum. Thanks to Hodder Murray there will be free citizenship books for all attendees and the closing session will be followed by a wine reception.
• Chris Waller from the Association for Citizenship Teaching exemplifying the challenges and experiences of the citizenship coordinator in Secondary schools.
• Dr Emma-Jane Watchorn from the Citizenship Foundation introducing the Citizenship Manifestos Project, which aims to bring clarity and coherence to citizenship education provision through the development of citizenship manifestos.
• Ted Huddleston, Author of ‘Making Sense of Citizenship: A CPD Handbook’ looking at how to draw up a coherent citizenship programme.
• Tony Breslin, Chief Executive of the Citizenship Foundation and Barry Dufour from DeMontfort University drawing on their forthcoming collection on citizenship education ‘Developing Citizens’
The audience will include teachers, external speakers and key players in the citizenship field. The day is free and there are 10 supported places for teachers where transport and supply cover will be paid.
