Rammell proposes teaching 'core British values'

Education Minister Bill Rammell today announced plans to consider including ‘core British values’ in the Citizenship Curriculum for 11-16 year olds.

A six month review would examine whether all 11-16 year olds should be taught about issues such as freedom of speech, civic responsibility, and democracy, but also proposes to teach how these values developed historically with a view to developing a modern sense of British identity.
