Citizenship education: call for evidence
The Education and Skills Select Committee is seeking contributions to its inquiry into citizenship education. In October 2005 the Committee held an initial oral evidence session, and is now seeking written evidence. Everyone is invited to contribute their relevant experience, by the deadline of Monday 27 March 2006.
Under scrutiny are teachers' and leaders' attitudes to the subject, training, continuity across phases, quality and design, the relationship between citizenship education and current debates about Britishness, the potential for citizenship to contribute to community cohesion, the implementation of 'active' aspects of the citizenship curriculum, the appropriateness of other DfES guidance, and practice in other countries.
The deadline for submissions is Monday 27 March 2006.
More information is available on the Parliament website (links below).
