Theatre Royal helps pupils learn citizenship

On 11 November some 100 enthusiastic young people from four London schools gathered at the Theatre Royal Stratford to watch rehearsed readings of six short plays written by six of the young people.

This followed a programme of professional writers visiting the schools over a six-week period, introducing students from years 10 and 11 to writing about characters and issues for the theatre.

The programme was the third organised by the Mousetrap Foundation, with support from the Citizenship Foundation, and contributes to the delivery of citizenship beyond the classroom.
