Around 400 schools a year are involved in the Competition

The competition gives young people an exciting and innovative opportunity to discover how and why laws are made.

Students from years eight and nine take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates and court staff and compete against other schools in a live format, with one team prosecuting and the other defending. Their performances are judges by real magistrates and other legal professionals and take pace in magistrates courts.

The competition has been running successfully for over a decade involving around 400 schools every year. The Citizenship Foundation wishes to bring the educational benefits of mock trials to an even greater range of students and schools.

The post is full-time for one year initally. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 17 October 2005.
