The Boswells School, Essex, runner up of the Bar National Mock Trial Competition 2004/05, competed against Merewether High School from Australia, in an international version of the competition.

Students met their Australian challengers over a video link at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Judging the contest were Barrister Bernard Richmond in the UK and Peter Thraves in Australia. Finding the result to close to call, they announced a draw.

The Bar National Mock Trial Competition aims to provide hands-on experience of the workings of the legal system. Merewether High School, from Newcastle, was the winner of a mock trial competition run in New South Wales after taking part in 10 rounds of mock trials.

This competition was sponsored by the Department for Constitutional Affairs in the UK and the British Council and the Law Society of New South Wales in Australia.
