Award for 'Anti Bullying Massif'
A Youth Act! group has been chosen to receive the Diana, Princess of Wales Anti-Bullying Award for its outstanding contribution to tackling bullying.
The group members have trained as peer mentors and set up an anti-bullying referral and peer counselling programme in their school. They have organised assemblies and training sessions for students and staff at local Islington schools and have been involved in a number of London and national initiatives, including a DfES anti-bullying film produced in partnership with Actionwork (www.actionwork.com).
The Diana, Princess of Wales Anti-Bullying Award, set up in partnership with the Anti-Bullying Alliance and was launched by Ivan Lewis, MP, in July 2004. The Award recognises the contribution of children and young people up to the age of 18 to tackling bullying in their schools and communities.
The Award is open to all primary and secondary schools and will initially run for one year (September 2004-July 2005). Schools can make one nomination during that time.
ABF was also chosen as one of 15 case studies for BT’s Seen and Heard project in 2005.
