Magistrates' Court competition deadline extended

The deadline for entries to the Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Competition has been extended to 27 October 2004.

Over 95% of criminals cases are dealt with by magistrates, yet very few people know enough about their vital role.

This competition offers young people a hands-on introduction to the legal system and the magistrates' courts.

Now in its 10th successful year, the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Competition gives young people an exciting and innovative opportunity to discover how and why laws are made.

Each year it involves 4,500 young people throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and 800 magistrates and other legal professionals.
