New dedicated Inspector for Citizenship

For the first time the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) has appointed a specialist adviser for citizenship, in recognition of the status of the subject in the National Curriculum.

Scott Harrison, who has been overseeing citizenship alongside history at Ofsted, will from today be concentrating solely on citizenship.

The move follows Ofsted's announcement in May that it is appointing new specialist subject advisers.

Scott will be responsible for planning and managing subject inspections, reporting on standards and the quality of provision, maintaining the quality and consistency of subject inspections and publicising inspection findings.

He will also advise the Chief Inspector of Schools (currently David Bell), the Department for Education and Skills and the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority on subject issues. Share
