Legal Services Commission launches new information service

The Legal Services Commission yesterday launched a new service providing free information, help and advice direct to the public.

Community Legal Service Direct brings together a new national helpline with the popular JustAsk! website and CLS Directory Line under one brand. Visitors to the former JustAsk! website will be automatically redirected to www.clsdirect.org.uk.

Although the service is intended to “complement face-to-face legal help, not replace it”, it is hoped that it will go some way to tackling issues of legal access and social exclusion.

Users of CLS Direct can speak to a qualified legal adviser during office hours, hear messages about common problems out of office hours, search online for legal advisers and solicitors, submit question online, order and print information leaflets and check their eligibility for legal aid.
