Emma-Jane Watchorn


Emma-Jane is an education researcher and practitioner.

Emma-Jane (known as Edge) has over ten years’ experience in education as a researcher and practitioner.

In 2005 she completed her doctorate at Oxford University, which examined the introduction of citizenship education to the National Curriculum in England, exploring its implementation and early impact.

She is no stranger to the Foundation, having worked for the organisation in 2005-06 as Project Manager for the Citizenship Manifestos Project, before moving to Parliament’s Education Service where she oversaw the development and expansion of the “Visit Parliament” schools’ programme. She is currently Senior Research Adviser at the General Teaching Council, where she leads on stakeholder evidence and evaluation.

Outside work, Edge is a keen hiker and traveller; her recent adventures include trips to Malawi, Bhutan and Antarctica.
