As a member of the Youth Leadership Team for the schools section of The Youth of Today, I think this is utter rubbish.

The things taught by this section teach more than the curriculum - they teach valuable life skills that young people, such as myself, seriously need in this age.

For the government to just scrap this project is discouraging all the young people who have spent months working on it, using all the skills the schools project teaches in the first place.

It's an utter disgrace, and has just shown young people how highly they rate in the new government's agenda.

It is a great shame that the government has decided to cut this area of The youth of today. I think they have overlooked a project that is vital to the development of students citizenship and leadership skills. I feel the cuts show the governments narrow-mindedness in their attitude to education and projects concerning young people.

I think this is yet another example of the coalition government demolishing all of the fantastic work that has contributed to the so called " big society " for them to then start from the ground up.

Perhaps if they were to listen to public demand and keep what youth provisions are in place rather than removing them all and introducing the national citizen service (of which very very few young people actually want in the format government have announced) then their so called "big society" would be far more successful.
